Course Description

Environmental policy often fails because the motivations and decision-making of key stakeholders are poorly understood. This session will show how environmental policy impact can be strengthened by applying behavioral science to steer individual decision-making and behaviour in a more sustainable direction. The session will present an overview of behavioral science for environmental policy, share practical insights from case studies and “soft-launch” ESCAP’s self-paced e-learning course.

Attending the session will provide you with:

1) Describe what behavioral interventions are and how they can boost be applied to environmental policy making.

2) Leverage insights and best practices from previous case studies to identify where behavioral interventions can strengthen environmental policy impact.

3) Identify opportunities for strengthening institutional capacity to apply behavioral interventions.
